Question
I am trying to identify a digital camera suitable for recording printed text on surfaces which are not necessarily flat, including 4 inch diameter cylinders.  Illumination will be room light. Ideally, it should be pocketable but this is not a requirement.

Answer
Ed,

Actually, I should think about any of the current point and shoot cameras do a decent macro.  But I feel the Olympus Tough series and the Canon Powershot SD series are the best.  If this is a "work" camera, you may want to go with the Olympus Tough because they are water proof and impact resistant.

Expertise

I can answer questions about point and shoots and 35mm SLR`s from the 1960s to present. I can also handle most questions on digital cameras from "camera" makers, like Nikon, Olympus, Canon, Sony, etc. Though usually I`m not too familiar with the driver interface, as 3rd party devices for download are more efficient. Sorry, but I can no longer answer questions about the value of old cameras.
