Question
QUESTION: My daughter has a Sony 9c06 cybershot camera. She has lost her battery charger and would like to find a replacement. Can you help me find one?

ANSWER: Patricia,

Can you check on the model number of your camera again?  The number you gave me doesn't exist in their line-up.  Their model numbers always start with a letter.  Usually a G, W, T or S.  (Their cameras all have DSC before the model number that means Digital Still Camera)  I have never heard of nor can I find any reference to a 9c06 on Sony's site.

QUESTION: Sorry, the model number is DSC-W80. Can you help me with a battery charger?

Answer
Patricia,

Okay...  got it.  You can get a Sony brand charger on Amazon at the link below.

http://www.amazon.com/Sony-BCTRG-Travel-Charger-Battery/dp/B000EBRFDU/ref=sr_1_3

They have after market chargers starting at around $7 dollars but I don't know how much I would trust one.  But for that cheap you wouldn't be out much.  To find a selection of cheaper chargers just go to Amazon and search "NP-BG1 charger".  The Sony brand charger is around $40 dollars.

If you don't want to shop online, you will have to find a Sony dealer in your area.  We carry the power2000 in our shop, and it goes for around $50 (does AC and 12 volt both for home or car) so I would expect it would be similar in price where ever you are.  The Power 2000 is the only after market brand I can say from experience I know are good.  Most places that carry digital camera accessories in your area should have one or be able to order one.  Usually big box stores don't bother with accessories.  You will be better off starting at smaller "camera only" camera stores.  Or if you have a Ritz or Kits in your area, they would be able to help you as well.

Expertise

I can answer questions about point and shoots and 35mm SLR`s from the 1960s to present. I can also handle most questions on digital cameras from "camera" makers, like Nikon, Olympus, Canon, Sony, etc. Though usually I`m not too familiar with the driver interface, as 3rd party devices for download are more efficient. Sorry, but I can no longer answer questions about the value of old cameras.
