Question
Hi,
Just recently my when I turned on my camera it beeps three times and cuts off.  The shutter will also not open.  When I called the Samsung help line, they told me I needed to change the alkaline batteries to lithium because the camera would respond beat to those and the problem would be solved.  I did that, but there was no change.  Any suggestions as to solution?  Thanks!

Answer
Barbara,

If you have the same problem after trying different batteries, then there is something wrong with the camera.  It could be a lot of different things.  Anything from a mechanical problem, like the lens drive mechanism or even the computer.  All you can do is send it in for repair.  If it is under warranty, I would go ahead and do that.  If it is no longer under warranty, I would suggest that you get a new camera.  The cost of repair almost always exceeds the price of replacement.

Expertise

I can answer questions about point and shoots and 35mm SLR`s from the 1960s to present. I can also handle most questions on digital cameras from "camera" makers, like Nikon, Olympus, Canon, Sony, etc. Though usually I`m not too familiar with the driver interface, as 3rd party devices for download are more efficient. Sorry, but I can no longer answer questions about the value of old cameras.
