Question
I would like to know whether the following batteries are rechargeable or not:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000CFY88/ref=e_deav_acc_1_1/103-...

In case the url doesn't work, here are the battery details:

Memorex High Performance AA Alkaline Batteries, 12 Pack

How can I tell from the name of a battery whether it is rechargeable or not?

Advice will be much appreciated.

Answer
Aftab,

No, they are not rechargeable.  They are just normal AA batteries like you would buy at any grocery store.

At the very least, rechargeable batteries would actually say "RECHARGEABLE" on them.  They would also probably say that they are either NiCAD or NiMH type instead of Alkaline.  Some companies do make rechargeable alkaline batteries, buy they are relatively uncommon and are not very good for most of the high-powered devices we use today.  No good for cameras for example.

Expertise

I can answer questions about point and shoots and 35mm SLR`s from the 1960s to present. I can also handle most questions on digital cameras from "camera" makers, like Nikon, Olympus, Canon, Sony, etc. Though usually I`m not too familiar with the driver interface, as 3rd party devices for download are more efficient. Sorry, but I can no longer answer questions about the value of old cameras.
