Cameras/Canon G3 vs G5

Question
I have read much about the problems with the new G5 but also have heard from a friend that the G5 surface is plastic while the G3 (and G2) have metal outer frames.  Is this correct?

Answer
Alan,

I recieved your corrected rateing and thank-you.  However, there is limited space on the "comments" portion of the rateing page you use so I could not read all you wrote.  I am often asked amended questions there and I can't see them.  Did you have another question?

Expertise

I can answer questions about point and shoots and 35mm SLR`s from the 1960s to present. I can also handle most questions on digital cameras from "camera" makers, like Nikon, Olympus, Canon, Sony, etc. Though usually I`m not too familiar with the driver interface, as 3rd party devices for download are more efficient. Sorry, but I can no longer answer questions about the value of old cameras.

Experience

I'm an "expert" under photography. I've many years experience in photo retail.John and Chris
