My teenage daughter received a Canon A520 digital camera in December. She was recently riding in our van and handed the camera from the front seat to her sister in the back seat. The camera slipped out of her hand and fell on the floor. Now the LCD monitor will not operate. Are all digital cameras this sensitive? It wasn't even a hard fall. If so, I am sorry I wasted my money.
Answer -
Patricia,
Digital cameras are generally more delicate than film cameras. However, I've seen them take greater falls than you describe and survive.

Can these be repaired or is it not worth the money?
Answer -
Patricia,
For the cost of repair, you could buy a better one.
John
Could you give me some ideas about another one? I am pretty disillusioned about digital cameras at this point. Three months and a camera doesn't work doesn't set well with me.
Patricia
AnswerPatricia,
The only camera to claim to be shock resistant will be introduced shortly by Olympus. It's called the Stylus 720 SW. Olympus claim it can take a drop of 5 feet and is water-proof to 10 feet. It was just announced at the trade show in Orlando so I don't know when they will be on store shelves. But I don't think it will be too long because Olympus has it on their web-site.
Sorry your disapointed with you old one.... but that is just the way it's always been. You generally can't drop electronics, especially inexpensive ones.
