Question
I just got a new Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S600 (it is right out of the box). For some reason it will not turn on, or rather it will turn on for a split second and turn right back off. (more quickly than I can even see what is on the screen) I thought it might be the batteries so I replaced those with ones I knew were good, and it still does the same thing. Also, I don't know if it makes a difference, but the shutter appears to be open on the front. Any suggestions?

Answer
If you have googled or done some research already great. Have you tried holding down the button for 4-5 seconds? Any change in symptom? No? Try that several times back to back. Return it to the store is too pat an answer but then you already have that option. Tried the tech support already?
Next if you haven't tried this also: Rock the button with your thumb or finger, see if there seems to a bit of play/stiffness? If so see if you can gently turn/twist the button in its fitting. sorry I am out of additional ideas. Nate sorry about the earlier lightweight answer. Hope this helps.
Good Luck
