Question
Hi

I have a year old computer with windows XP[ home Edition] and I am having difficulty downloading digital pictures from my Minolta           Digital Camera

I use my camera for both work & at home, on my office computer [w2000professional] as soon as I plug in the lead to the computer and turn on the camera the relevant windows download screen appears and all is easy! Whereas at home following the same procedure and nothing happens.

My wife has a Canon Camera which includes its own downloading software and she also uses Adobe Photoshop Elements 2. I assume that one of these e programmes has altered the original windows default detection settings; how do I reinstate them? And will it effect the programmes my wife uses?

Many thanks for your help

Regards

Chris

Answer
The Canon and Adobe software should not confilct.  This is probably a windows issue.  Plug in the camera and see if a new drive letter shows under "my computer".  If it does, explore the drive to get your pictures.  As far as the event window not popping up automatically, you'll need to find a windows expert for that.

Expertise

I can answer questions about point and shoots and 35mm SLR`s from the 1960s to present. I can also handle most questions on digital cameras from "camera" makers, like Nikon, Olympus, Canon, Sony, etc. Though usually I`m not too familiar with the driver interface, as 3rd party devices for download are more efficient. Sorry, but I can no longer answer questions about the value of old cameras.
