Question
Why doesn't a digital camera get affected when it's connected via an USB port to an infected computer?

Answer
A virus/trojan/etc is written specifically for the operating system of the computer. Therefore no infection to the camera.
Hackers/Malware/viruses are not as a rule written for the operating system of the digital camera. Unfortunately the future will some day prove me wrong. Already there viruses posing as photos on websites but that is not related directly to your question. If you have need of more information about viruses I can recommend some sites. Let me know.
Hope this helps.
