-And bigger is not necessarily sharper! Upto what enlargement can we go with a 6 mp without losing sharpness. Are there any flaws with d100.

I own nikon slr camera system and intend to use the lens with the new digital bodies. At present i am eyeing kodak 13.9 megapixil camera. As you know it is quite expensive at this point.I am wondering if it will give any major advantage over the current nikon digital cameras which are in 5-6 megapixil range eg DX100.In other words is it worth paying extra for the additional megapixils with kodak 13.9.More than anything else i am looking for picture sharpness comparable with the conventional nikon  bodies and lens.thanks

Sunny,

The Kodak is a pro camera, so it has a better body than the D100.  All the 13 million pixels really does for you is give you a bigger picture.

Well....  what you can enlarge to is, to some degree a matter of opinion and a matter of printing method.  But lets assume home ink-jet.  If you print at 300 dpi, that would be about 8x10 (it's actually closer to 7x10).  260 dpi (another common setting) would give you about 8x12 and 200 dpi would give you about 11x14.  What is acceptable to you may not be acceptable to another.

As for flaws.... well sure.  All cameras have flaws.  But I couldn't point to anything that would be a deal breaker.  The one thing I never understood about Nikon dSLR CCDs is the low ISO setting being limited to 200.  I've never heard a good reason for this.  However, my partner and I will be seeing the Nikon rep in a week or two, and I'm going to try and remember to ask her this time.

Answer
I can't give an opinion on that yet.  Nikon isn't even shipping the cameras untill the 26th of March.  (I know some stores say they have them.  I don't know how that could be possible.  NIKON say the 26th)  So I haven't seen one yet.  Nikon says that it is a lower-end camera and is supposed to sit below the D100 in their line.  However, reading the specs makes it look in many respects like a better camera.  I think it will turn out that we have a camera that is better electronically but with a cheaper body design.

Expertise

I can answer questions about point and shoots and 35mm SLR`s from the 1960s to present. I can also handle most questions on digital cameras from "camera" makers, like Nikon, Olympus, Canon, Sony, etc. Though usually I`m not too familiar with the driver interface, as 3rd party devices for download are more efficient. Sorry, but I can no longer answer questions about the value of old cameras.
