Cameras/File Protect question and unknown icon question

Question
Hi - two questions about my Sony DSC-P72 CyberShot 3.2 -

1) I apparently have inadvertently placed "File Protect" on two photos... I am trying to delete them but have the "File Protect" banner flash upon them when I press on Delete.  Any suggestions?

2) There is an icon that displays on the LCD screen which I cannot trace in the manual.  It displays immediately below the "Red Eye Reduction" symbol, and appears to be a "speaker"-type icon (has "bursts" coming out of it on the right) and the indicator "ON" next to it.  Any ideas?  This is driving me batty!

Thanks much!

Answer
Peggy,
Well, you could try just formatting the card.  There is a format function in the menu.

Peggy,
Somewhere on your camera is either a button or menu item that protects pictures.  If it is a button, it usually looks like a key symbol.  If it is a menu item, it will probably just say "protect".  Use that function to unlock each protected pitcture.  You've got me on the speaker symbol.  I don't have a P72 to look at and I couldn't fine a similar symbol on our current sony cameras.  It could be an indication for "voice record", or it may even be a symbol for a wind filter while in video mode.  Sorry I don't know for sure.

Expertise

I can answer questions about point and shoots and 35mm SLR`s from the 1960s to present. I can also handle most questions on digital cameras from "camera" makers, like Nikon, Olympus, Canon, Sony, etc. Though usually I`m not too familiar with the driver interface, as 3rd party devices for download are more efficient. Sorry, but I can no longer answer questions about the value of old cameras.
