Question
Hello

I am new to cameras and purchaced a vivitar v3800n off ebay just to play with. But the film advance does not work, when it is pushed it just falls limp, also the shutter release does not do anything. Is this a common and easy fix? Or should i purchase another camera (canon). Thank you very much

Answer
Is there film in the camera?  If there is, it could be at the end of the roll and needs to be rewound.  If there is no film in it, and the advance lever will move no farther to the right (to cock the shutter) then the camera is broken and should be replaced.

Expertise

I can answer questions about point and shoots and 35mm SLR`s from the 1960s to present. I can also handle most questions on digital cameras from "camera" makers, like Nikon, Olympus, Canon, Sony, etc. Though usually I`m not too familiar with the driver interface, as 3rd party devices for download are more efficient. Sorry, but I can no longer answer questions about the value of old cameras.
