Question
John
Thank you for your previous answers to my questions. My main concern now is what to look for to do close up photos of jewelry. coins, etc. for use on the internet. Would a 3-4 times optical zoom be ok or do I need a camera with a macro zoom? I want a point and shoot and do not need a lot of manual settings and do not need or particularly want movie capability. Just want to take good close up pictures for eBay etc.

Answer
A great camera for that would be one of the inexpensive Nikon Coolpix cameras, like the 4600 or 5600.  The macro feature on these cameras would be perfect.  And yes, whatever you choose should have a macro function but keep in mind that not all macro lenses are created equally.  The best (in point and shoot) are Nikon and Olympus.

Expertise

I can answer questions about point and shoots and 35mm SLR`s from the 1960s to present. I can also handle most questions on digital cameras from "camera" makers, like Nikon, Olympus, Canon, Sony, etc. Though usually I`m not too familiar with the driver interface, as 3rd party devices for download are more efficient. Sorry, but I can no longer answer questions about the value of old cameras.
