Cameras/Nikon FE / Stuck shutter

Question
My Nikon FE has a recurring problem... the shutter doesn't reset after taking a picture, so I also can't advance the film.

I took it to a repair place.  It worked for one roll of film, and then did it again after the 5th shot on the next roll.

Is there a manual way to reset the thing?

Answer
Mark,

You can reset by turning the shutter-speed dial past the M90 or M250 position (whichever you have).  However, once it starts doing this, it will usually keep doing it un'till repaired properly.  This is not an uncommon problem for a Nikon when it gets older and is not generally hard to fix.  I would take it back and have them take another shot at it.

Expertise

I can answer questions about point and shoots and 35mm SLR`s from the 1960s to present. I can also handle most questions on digital cameras from "camera" makers, like Nikon, Olympus, Canon, Sony, etc. Though usually I`m not too familiar with the driver interface, as 3rd party devices for download are more efficient. Sorry, but I can no longer answer questions about the value of old cameras.
