Question
I am an Interior Designer.

I am considering purchasing a digital camera for shooting Interiors of rooms I have designed and have shortlisted on Nikon coolpix 8400. It is available at USD 400 on Ritzcamera.com

I would like to know if it is a good choice for the price, or would you recommned another camera in a similar price range. Also whether it is a good idea to purchase such a camera online - any experience on ritzcamera.com  Can I consider it to be a reliable site ?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Monish

Answer
Monish,

The 8400 is actually one of the few cameras I would suggest for interior documentation.  Because there aren't that many cameras that have a built-in wide angle lens.  The only other one currently is the Canon S80.  $400 is a great deal.  That camera sold for twice that when it first came out.

Although I don't like them personally, I would have to say that Ritz is a very reliable company.  They actually have around 1000 stores across the USA.

Expertise

I can answer questions about point and shoots and 35mm SLR`s from the 1960s to present. I can also handle most questions on digital cameras from "camera" makers, like Nikon, Olympus, Canon, Sony, etc. Though usually I`m not too familiar with the driver interface, as 3rd party devices for download are more efficient. Sorry, but I can no longer answer questions about the value of old cameras.
