Question
I'm thinking about getting a Nikon D80 but I'm not sure if its reliable or anything. Do you know if it is or what are some good digital cameras(except Canon)? I want it to have a really good zoom and is just a good camera overall.

Answer
Well unfortunately I haven't seen a D80 yet.  I don't think they are officially shipping yet.  I understand that some of the BIG retailers have samples to show but not for sale.  Generally speaking, no one is building a bad camera in the dSLR catagory.  They have different personalities but I wouldn't say any are unreliable.  I'm a nikon fan myself.  I use a D70s and D200.  I don't know why you don't want to consider Canon, but I used to use them and I found them to be fine machines.  If you want another choice.... consider the new Sony Alpha.  There are going to be some very nice lenses available for it soon and it has the same 10mp as the new Nikon.

Expertise

I can answer questions about point and shoots and 35mm SLR`s from the 1960s to present. I can also handle most questions on digital cameras from "camera" makers, like Nikon, Olympus, Canon, Sony, etc. Though usually I`m not too familiar with the driver interface, as 3rd party devices for download are more efficient. Sorry, but I can no longer answer questions about the value of old cameras.
