Cameras/My Pentx ME Super shutter has jammed

Question
Hi John

thanks for your last advice. I have another question for you if you dont mind answering?

I was loading fresh film into my newly aquired Pentax ME Super and wound the lever on. Then,I tried to press the firing button and the shutter went up...and stayed up!

Cant wind the lever on, cant do anything. The batteries are fresh, but when I checked the internet for the manual it said that when loading, the speed should be set to "X" otherwise long exposures could result. Well, the shutter was on manual when Iloaded it, so maybe that was the problem. So, I rest the knob to "X" and left it a couple hours. No change. Please help.

Many thanks,

Del

Answer
No, not setting to X would only result in the shutter being open for a few seconds.  Your mirror is locked-up because of a mechanical problem (probably).  Try a new battery anyway....  you could have got a bad one.  If that doesn't work, you'll have to send it for repair.

Expertise

I can answer questions about point and shoots and 35mm SLR`s from the 1960s to present. I can also handle most questions on digital cameras from "camera" makers, like Nikon, Olympus, Canon, Sony, etc. Though usually I`m not too familiar with the driver interface, as 3rd party devices for download are more efficient. Sorry, but I can no longer answer questions about the value of old cameras.
