Question
Hi - Assuming they fit, is there any disadvantage to using my Canon A-1 lenses with my Canon Rebel XT?

Answer
The old FD lenses from Canon actually won't fit on your Rebel.  At least not directly.  I have heard people claim they have found adapters to make them fit but I can see no point in this.  Even if you could hang an FD lens on an EFS body, the piture quality would be relatively poor and the technical challanges of actually taking pictures would be cumbersom.  The camera would have no auto-focus and no exposure meter.

Expertise

I can answer questions about point and shoots and 35mm SLR`s from the 1960s to present. I can also handle most questions on digital cameras from "camera" makers, like Nikon, Olympus, Canon, Sony, etc. Though usually I`m not too familiar with the driver interface, as 3rd party devices for download are more efficient. Sorry, but I can no longer answer questions about the value of old cameras.
