Cameras/Sony et al flashes

Question
I have recently purchased the Sony A-100 and the flash shoe is smaller than that
which I have on my Pentax. I note the retail cost of the Sony flashes is really
high and after the initial camera purchase I can't afford them. Are there other
compatible flashes on the market or is there an adapter to allow my other
quanteray flashes to fit the Sony.

Thanks for your help.

Answer
As far as I know, there is no adapter.  Even if there was, the flash wouldn't work right as the computers wouldn't be able to talk to each other.  You can find after-market flashes that are cheaper.  Flashes made for Minolta AF cameras will work.

Expertise

I can answer questions about point and shoots and 35mm SLR`s from the 1960s to present. I can also handle most questions on digital cameras from "camera" makers, like Nikon, Olympus, Canon, Sony, etc. Though usually I`m not too familiar with the driver interface, as 3rd party devices for download are more efficient. Sorry, but I can no longer answer questions about the value of old cameras.
