Cameras/Zoom vs. Megapixels

Question
I am considering purchasing one of two currently available Kodak cameras -- the DX6490 with 4mp and a 10x zoom, and the DX7630 with 6mp and a 3x zoom. Which would be better for a family, in which the camera would be used by an early teen, middle teen gadget geek, and two adults?

Both cameras are intended for family use. Either one would serve well. You have to ask yourself which is more important to you.... big zoom or a lot of pixels. Big zoom if you take a lot of pictures that have distant subjects.... 6mp if you like to make larger prints. If you want to do both, you'll need to choose something different.

| Comment | Thanks for your response. I figured it couldn't hurt to ask, as I do have other digital cameras that handle low light without this problem, even w/ a 16x optical zoom. Granted, these cameras are 2 mega pixels down to 1.3 mp. Thanks again! -Greg | ||
