Cameras/digital point and shoot vs. SLR reliabilty

QuestionThanks for the reply. Yes it's an actual business. We use point and shoots because we don't really do anything fancy, ID pictures, casual group shots, etc. Nothing really glamorous. The added capabilities of a DSLR don't seem to justify the additional cost. Though if they are more rugged I'd seriously consider switching over. On average one camera gets sent to the service center every three months.

-----Question-----
How much more reliable are DSLRs than point and shoots? I opened a small studio and have digital cameras break down every few months. Are DSLRs worth the (much higher) price tag?
-----Answer-----
I wouldn't say that (generally speaking) DSLRs are more reliable than point and shoot cameras. Though DSLRs are designed to take a lot more images over their life time.
Is your studio an actual business? If so, and you use the camera a LOT, you simply may be wearing them out. Though once a month seems excessive. Why would you use a point and shoot in a studio?

AnswerIt's not that they are more rugged... unless you spend a lot on a metal one like the Nikon D200. It's that they are designed to be used more.
Can you tell me what cameras you use now? About how many shots one takes in 3 months? What they are going to the shop for? And how much it generally costs you to get one fixed? I want to figure out if it's worth it for you to switch.
