Cameras/How to fix the Sony video camera

Hi Gary,
I bought Sony Handycam DCR TRV 480 last year, now if I put the casseteinto the slot, in screen appear "please reinsert the cassete" I reinsert but the result still the same. Do you know how to fixed it by myself?

David, hello. This answer may belong in the believe it or not book. Sony's cams have a way of responding positively to a good swift smack to the side. Lots of postings about this on the web. This is a last resort!
First how old is the tape? Has it been used many times? Dry or humid climate? A good cleaning may help as well. Let me know.
