Question
ah..i dropped it. evidently the dial got lodged and stuck.. i can't turn it on or off..except with much difficulty, and only sometimes. i took most of the screws out - that seemed to help a bit for a while, but not anymore.

i can't afford to bring it to a dealer, and have heard they cost as much to repair as replacing one.

thanks for your assistance if you can.

Answer
Katie,

Well, sorry....  but it'll have to go to the shop.  When they say "no user serviceable parts", they're not kidding.  Sometimes you have to actually break the camera to get inside to fix it...  then they just replace the part they broke.  And you are right, unless it was something like a digital SLR, they generally aren't worth fixing.

Expertise

I can answer questions about point and shoots and 35mm SLR`s from the 1960s to present. I can also handle most questions on digital cameras from "camera" makers, like Nikon, Olympus, Canon, Sony, etc. Though usually I`m not too familiar with the driver interface, as 3rd party devices for download are more efficient. Sorry, but I can no longer answer questions about the value of old cameras.
