Question
i am thinking of digital photography which one do you think is better cannon or nikon. how do u know all this info?

Answer
Jimmi,

Just like everyone else, I like one brand of camera more than another.  But when you consider the big names in a given catagory, I can't honestly say that one maker is truely better than another.  They have different personalities of course, and I think that what one person finds important, another will not.  And this leads that person to believe that one maker is better than another.  What this comes down to is that you can't go wrong with either one.

Having said that, I like Nikon.  I use a D70s and D200.  Some of the things I like...  wireless flash built in without buying a special device or a flash dedicated as a master.  And my D200 is weather and dust resistant.  I also feel like the Nikons have a more "natural" film-like look than Canon.  I used to use Canon.  And my ex-wife still does.  Canon seems to have a more saturated color at default and better noise behavior at high ISO.  Though I feel that when canon finally does show noise it looks un-natural.  Nikons noise is more film-like.  (this is of-course all opinion)

How do I know all this??  Well, I've been selling cameras for something like 12 years.  And I started taking pictures when I was 10 years old....  that's 26 years ago.  Plus I like to read trade magazines and on-line camera reviews.  And I get to try out all the new cameras as they come into my store.  I guess I'm a camera geek.

Expertise

I can answer questions about point and shoots and 35mm SLR`s from the 1960s to present. I can also handle most questions on digital cameras from "camera" makers, like Nikon, Olympus, Canon, Sony, etc. Though usually I`m not too familiar with the driver interface, as 3rd party devices for download are more efficient. Sorry, but I can no longer answer questions about the value of old cameras.

I'm an "expert" under photography. I've many years experience in photo retail.John and Chris
