Cameras/shutter speed on digital camera

Question
I'm wanting to purchase an all around good digital camera. Prefer under $300. I need one that works for night/action photos and one with a good shutter speed. What do you recommend?

For the money you want to spend you won't get what I personally would consider a camera that excelled at night/action photography. But I guess it would really depend on what you expect from the camera. I will tell you that in the range you are interested I would personally prefer the Canon A630.
