Question I am travelling (vancouver) to Banff around the 14th Dec, and wanted to catch the train- (but have been told it isn't running at that time of year- so I am considering a flight to Calgary and then a trip to Banff instead of the 11 hours on a bus from Vancouver...can you give me some info on the time it takes to get from Calgary to Banff in December? Are there any cheap/small airlines that fly Van/Cal?
Answer To answer this question I would have to check the various airlines on the Internet, which you would be able to do, as there will be many options to consider. Westjet would probably be your best option for an airline, and I believe the price is somewhere around $100 plus airport taxes.
Traveling by vehicle from Calgary to Banff will take approximately 1 - 1 1/2 hours, depending on the weather and road conditions. Banff is in the mountains so there may be snow on the roads. You could also take Greyhound Bus from Calgary to Banff, and not worry about the road conditions yourself. Greyhound schedules are available on their website.
