Question QUESTION: One impression people have in the United States about Canada is that it is easier to live in Canada, economically speaking.
Are real wages better in Candada?
Do you have a better welfare system?
Is it difficult to get citizenship in Canada?
ANSWER: Well, of course, this is a matter of perspective and opinion.
From my perspective, coming from the UK, the standard of living in Canada is so much better that the UK. There is a lot more opportunity, things to do and I consider the wages to be better.
The health system is definitely better. See movie - "Sicko" by Michael Moore.
As for the difference between the USA and Canada, economically speaking, I would not be able to comment.
I hope that this fives you some insights.

QUESTION: I did see Sicko over the winter, is it difficult to get citizenship in Canada, my girlfriend is thinking about moving their and I may be interested in joining her.
Answer Hi again,
Once you have been a permanent resident in Canada for over 3 years (cumulative), you can apply for Citizenship. There is a test - relatively easy and then a ceremony. (Takes about a year for application.)
Assuming that you can get a job and permanent resident status, you are free from crime and in good health, reside in Canada for 3 years arriving as a permanent resident, citizenship is pretty much a given
