Question I am a Canadian Citizen and just moved to the United States in July of 2007. I am now a US permanent resident. Can I still collect my Canadian maternity benefits while living in the United States?
Answer No you are not elegible. You must be working in Canada to collect. The rules are the same as for applying for EI except you do not have to be actively looking for work. In general, you must be a resident of Canada to receive Canadian social benefits (the only exception being certain pension benefits).
