About David Chanter
Expertise
I have a MA in Political Science and have worked or visited every province and territory in Canada. I work for the federal government as a Media Monitoring Officer where I scan everyday all the major newspapers in Canada. I would be pleased to answer questions on: Canadian politics (federal and provincial); Canadian geography; and, life in Canada.

Subject: pregnancy in US

Question
We are going to be students in the US this coming year and will be having a baby while we are there. Does the Canadian government cover the cost of delivering out there or do we need to buy insurance or come home to deliver.

Answer
Certainly NOT the Canadian government.  However, your provincial health plan MIGHT.  Suggest you check with them since each provincial scheme has slightly different rules concerning what is and what is not covered. If it was me (well, my spouse actually) we would arrange to be in Canada at time baby is due.
