Hello Harjinder;

Thank you for your question.

Mismatch in name could be potentially troublesome, not only upon entry but also during travel & transit.

You may send the entire package back to the office that issue your visa for correction, explaining the situation. They should do it without extra cost, in case your original application included the surname.

As an alternative, to address your immediate concern of return to Canada on the same visa, we may be able to provide a written submission for you to carry, when returning to Canada as a quick solution. Since this type of submission is beyond the scope of this forum, you can write to us on or call us.

Hope this is useful.

Thank you & Kind Regards

We advise clients on these as well as find innovative immigration solutions for others. I have been an active volunteer with the Canadian Association of Professional Immigration Consultants (CAPIC), since its inception in 2005.
