Question -
I am traveling to Banff and Jasper National Park this summer. I am worried that they will close the U.S.-Canada border because of the bird flu. Is this a realistic concern or should I expect to be able to go. I am from Virginia and am flying to Calgary.
Answer -
No need to worry at all. The dangerous type of bird flu hasn't reached North America (yet).
IS IT EXPECTED TO BY JULY THOUGH OR IS THAT A LONG SHOT.
Answer I think there are a lot of "scare" stories floating around about bird flu. To my knowledge WORLDWIDE, the only reported cases of human deaths caused by bird flu are in third world countries or extremely poor places where domestic birds were free to tander about in and and around a person's home.
As far as Bird Flu by July, well to begin with our Flu season doesn't start till Novemeber and secondly no official warnings, alerts, notices about impeding arrival of bird have been issued by any government at any level in Canada (not to say that that there hasn't been a lot of planning and stockpiling of medications IF a pandemic should ever arrive).
