Expertise
I have a MA in Political Science and have worked or visited every province and territory in Canada. I work for the federal government as a Media Monitoring Officer where I scan everyday all the major newspapers in Canada. Subject: Canadian Citizenship

Question
My grandmother was born on Prince Edward Island in 1907, is
it possible that I have Canadian citizenship through her?
My mom,her daughter, was born in Detroit, Gram migrated to Detroit in 1926. Does Canadian citizenship pass down from each generation. Any information on this would be deeply appreciated.

Answer
I am not an expert on Canadian Citizenship. Please find the URL for two small brochures on dual citizenship plus a work sheet to help you determine your eligibility doe Canadian Citizenship. Generally speaking and I emphasize GENERALLY citizenship can only be "inherited" from one's immediate parent(s).  If your mother never acquired Canadian citizenship through a formal application process then I doubt that you would be eligible.  But again please read the enclosed brochures and fill out to worksheet to be sure.
