Question Hi, we're students learning about Nunavut, and we have several questions to ask you.
What was at stake when the Inuit created the territory? What was the outcome of the initiative to create this new territory? What could other outcomes have been?
How did they find out and get the documentation they needed to become a territory? How did they develop their legislature and set up the process for their first election?
Thank you very much, we appreciate your time.
Answer I don't generally answer homework questions, but I'll give you a general answer. Nunavut was before its creation part of the North West Terrototies. The problem was that the size of the terrorotry was simply too big and the population too scattered to receive adequate government services. Even the lanquage spoken by the Inuit is different in the Eastern Artic from that of the Western Arctic. So generally speaking the creation of Nunavut was done to bring the government "closer" to the people.
