Question
Good Morning Michael B ...
I am very interested in knowing all the information there is to know about trying out for the CFL. My son played for Virginia Tech here in the United States and recently graduated, he is seeking to continue his football career with your CF league . I as his mother would like to know the ins and outs for tryouts dates etc. Is this public information?

Answer
Hi Acintia,

The first thing to know is that the CFL season is earlier than the NFL.  Therefore, he'll have to be ready to go earlier in the year.  Typically, CFL try-outs happen in March/April/May.  Regular training camps are in June and the season usually starts around July 1 and runs until the end of October.  Playoffs are in November.

Your best bet is to start with the CFL website - www.cfl.ca - to see a list of the teams.  Follow the links to the individual teams - they each set their own dates/times/places for open try-outs.  Check the club websites starting in January as that's when they'll usually begin posting that information.

Good luck!

Michael
