Question
Dear Mike,

My nephew, Jeremy, is in Grade 6 and he's been assigned a project on "Canada's Trading Patterns", which involves importing, exporting and trading.  We haven't been very successful in finding an informative website with this topic and I was hoping you might give us some direction as to where we should be looking.  I did find one website under Government of Canada, but it was way too advanced for an 11 yr. old in Grade 6.

Any information you could give us, or direction as to what website we should be visiting would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you ever so much.

Respectfully yours,

     Therese

Answer
International trade is in area I won't even pretend to understand. With all the talk of hemisperic free trade and softwood lumber subsidies, one needs a business degree to figure it out. As for websites, I'm not really sure. As you most likely have discovered, most would tend to be quite complex. StatsCan might have some relevent statistics but I'm not aware of any site on trade (or any government policy, for that matter) directed at children. Sorry I couldn't help you more.

Mike
