Question

Im working on a project on Canadians involvement in Hong Kong in WW2. We also need to know about Canadians in Japenese prisoner of war camps.
Where, when, why, who, what, etc…
What was the role of Canadians?
What impact did the event/battle have on the war – why was it significant?
What were the realities/experiences of those involved?

Thanks so much

Answer
Hi Claire:

To answer your question, I' have to right a 500 page book.

You need to do some web searching I'm afraid.

I will say that Cnadians captured in Hong Kong endure the worst hardships imaginable. It's a surprise to me that any of them survived.

Check out the History channel. The had a very good program some months ago on the Canadian experiences in Japenese prison camps. Most still "hate" their gaurds.

Good luck
