from what ive read it apears to me that it took over 60 years for canada to completly gain its independence from england and in 1982 the costitution was amended
my  question is
is 1982 the real independence date from the queen ? is 1982 the year that canada was allowed to declare war on its own with out asking permision from the queen ?
i guess what i,m asking is on what date was canada totaly under its own control with out the england having any say on anything at all with canada ? or is there some things that canada still has to go before england on ?

Hi Doug:

I don't think you can pick a spefic date ...it's more like a sliding scale.

For example, in 1914 when England declared war, we were an extention of that declaration and were automatically in the war too ....but in 1939 we declared war independantly of Britian.

Now we're completely in control of our decisison.

We do how ever for the sake of tradition inform Her Majasty of decisions made by her Loyal Canadian Govt.
