Subject: 197km/hr speeding ticket in Alberta

Question
I reside in BC, but i got a speed ticket on Yellowhead highway.  I drove at 197km/hr speed on the highway.  The officer asked me to appear in the court.  now, i really regreted for what i did.  by the way, i'v moved to Canada for 4 years. Will they send me back to my country because of it? What will the court punish me?  now, i'm worried about it.  what should i do to reduce the fine or punishment?  if i want to postpone my court date, do i really need to go to the court personally or i can do it by phone?

Answer
Yes you do have to appear in court, and I would suggest that yo hire a lawyer to handle this case, it can put your insurance in jeopardy if convicted.'It will have no effect on your status in Canada
