Question
my sister parked in a no parking zone by mistake. Her van was towed a way. She was told that the van will be held for 29 days before she can pick it up. This was in Edmonton,Alberta. Is this legal. Why not give her a ticket and pay for the towing. Why hold it for 29 days. She lives 4 hrs north of Edmonton.

Answer
As my Profile sates I do not handle outside of Ontario HTA.
However I agree this is unusual..
I suggest you contact either the local police or Bylaw enforcement to get this cleared up.
You should be able pick up your vehicle anytime as long as you pay the towing and storage.
