Question
I got a call from a collections agencey, they told me I have a student loan from a bank in 1998 that they, are collecting on. I told them all my student loan have been paid for. He told me to make him an offer to settle on this loan of about 14,000, I said no. I then told him to send me the documents of the loan to see if it was mine. The loan documents had someone else first name but it was my surname on the document. I have talked to them once since then telling them I don't believe it's my loan. What should I do?

Answer
First thing is check your credit report and make sure there is no negative report on this loan.
Next you should contact a lawyer and have him write to the collection agency to remove you from their files.
I hope you have proof of payment on the student loans.
