Canadian Real Estate/Renting an Apartment in Ottawa

Question
Hello!

I am looking to move out of my parent's house to attend university in Ottawa. I would love to find an apartment. I was wondering, what is a decent amount of money to be spending to rent an apartment in Ottawa? I'm on a budget and want to make sure I'm not making a bad choice, seeing as it's my first time looking for a place.

I don't need a lot of space, and sharing is an option. Could you give me an approximation about the amount of money I should be spending monthly?

Thanks for your help!

Answer
Hey Taylor,
Your best bet would be to post a note at the University looking to share a house or Condo/Apt. with other Students? you would be looking at $400-$500 per month. Or you can go into Residence for your first year as many do including my own son who goes' to Laurier.
Another option is to look on the Internet for a basement apartment at many rental sites. A basement Apartment can run from $700-$1000.
Good luck at University!!
