Question
AS executor of my uncle's estate, I came accross a stock certificate purchased 12/2/1949 for 100 Shares of Capewell Petroleum Corporation Limited.  The Premier Trust Company, Toronto, Canada was the Transfer Agnet and Registrar.  I can find nothing about either.  Can you help?  Thanks

Answer
Unfortunately, I have no information on Capewell. Usually in these cases, you need to contact the Transfer Agent, but Premier Trust is defunct. It is possible that some of Premier's trust assets are now part of Scotia Bank's ScotiaTrust unit, so you might contact them. You could also contact the Province of Incorporation and see what information they have, but since the certificate is almost 60 years old, any contact information they would have is long out of date. I suggest your best approach would be to contact a broker and ask them to perform a more detailed search for you.
