Question I've recently found a certificate for Chiblow Mines Limited in the amount of $500 for 500 shares. The certificate is dated Jan 11/ 1965. My father had purchased it but passed away last June. I'm trying to find out if this is worth anything. I also found 2 more certificates for Canamiska Copper Mines Ltd for Jun 9/65 & Jul 14/65.
Could you please tell me if these are worth anything or where I may go to enquire about them.
Regards,
Peter Bauer
Answer Peter, I have no information on Chiblow Mines at all. For Canamiska, I have been asked about that one before. The transfer agent for Canamiska was Guaranty Trust, which is long out of business. However, TD might have some of their transfer assets, so you might contact them. The transfer agent for Chiblow would be listed somewhere on the certificate, so start there for that one.
Since you do have 2 companies and they are not in your name, I highly recommend that you take the certificates to a broker and ask them to research it for you. If they do find there is any value, they can also help you reorganize the shares to the name(s) of the heirs and obtain the value.
