Subject: Noranda - Falconbridge - Xstrata shares

Question
I need to trace some old Noranda stock certificates (circa 1969).  I know they merged with Falconbridge which was subsequently acquired by Xstrata.  These shares have sat in a safety deposit box for years.  What are my next steps?  This is to wind up an estate.  Thank you very much for your help.

Answer
Laura, I recommend you contact Xstrata and/or Xstrata's Transfer Agent directly. You can find Xstrata online at www.xstrata.com, and the transfer agent at www.computershare.com. Computershare is probably where I would start - let them know you have old Noranda certificates in an estate and you need their help in converting them into Xstrata. They can take you through the process and the paperwork required.
