I have an old stock certificate for shares in the McLeod Oil Company Limited issued by the Montreal Trust Company.  Can you tell me if these shares have been converted to another company and/or if these shares are of any value.

Unfortunately, I have no information on McLeod Oil. In these cases, you should try to contact the Transfer Agent. Montreal Trust is now Computershare (www.computershare.com) so I would try them first. If they no longer have the records, you could try the Province of Incorporation (listed on the certificate) and see what information they have available. Or, you could consult a broker and see if they can perform a more detailed search.
