Canadian Stocks - Old Stock Certificates

Expert: Steven Taylor - 10/29/2009

Question
My mother passed away several years ago and she left behind old stock certificates which appear to be signed by the previous owners.  I wonder if I could ask you if they have any value, they are:
Potterdoal Mines Limited dated 1934
North Stores Gold Mines, Limited 1936
Tom Johnson Nipigon Mines Limited 1936
Macfarlane Long Lac Gold Mines Limited 1937
Flintoba Mines Limited 1936

Thanks very much for your help.

Answer
Unfortunately, I have no information on those companies, as they predate the information I have available.

If there are transfer agents listed on the certificates, you could try them first, but due to the great age of the certificates, I doubt that will have much success. You could also try the Provinces of Incorporation (listed on the certificates) and see what information they have available. Or, try contacting a broker and see if they can perform a more detailed search for you.
