Canadian Stocks/Old stocks

QuestionHi Steven,
It seems as though you are the best source on the internet for this type of information so I really hope you can help me out.
My Grandpa purchsed some stock in some old mineral companies back in the late 60's and early 70's. The problem is that now we have no idea if these actually have any worth.
The companies are as follows:
Williams Creek Gold Quartz Mining Co. Limited (Canada Permanent Trust Company is the transfer agent)
United New Fortune Mines Limited (Eastern & Chartered Trust Company is the transfer agent)
Can you help me track them down please?
Thank you so much,
Joshua
AnswerFrom the information I have available:
Williams Creek did a 1 for 4 reverse split and became Williams Creek Exploration. That company is still around - it trades on the TSX Venture for about 5 cents per share. You need to talk to the transfer agent, Computershare (www.computershare.com) to get the old shares reorganized.
United New Fortune was dissolved in 1980, and it does not appear there was any value remaining for common shareholders.
