Question
I was just reading you answer regarding Base Metals stock. (See inqury below) It was stated this company closed in 1952. However, I have stock that was issued April 22, 1966. Is there an explination for this?
Thank you,
Kathy

Question
We came across some old stock certificates for BASE METALS MINING CORPORATION, LIMITED which was incorporated in 1929. The stock certificate was issued in 1955.

Answer
Hi Keith,

Base Metals mining was busy near the Lake Louise area, but they closed the mine there in 1952.  I could not find anything on them after that.  Perdue library files only go up to 1951 on this one.

Answer
Kathy, the clearest explanation is that I did not write the original answer. It was a different expert - Donald. As you can see from his original answer, Base Metals closed their mine in 1952. He did not say the company closed at that time.

However, the Company either way has no current value. The Company was involuntarily dissolved in 1980 and shareholders received no value.
