Canadian Stocks/Query regarding Newstare Resources

QuestionHello Stephen,
Around April 5, this was our previous conversation:
Question
Hi Steven,
I have 300 Newstar Resources sources that were sold to me by A.C. MacPherson in 1997. Is
there anything I can do with these?
Thanks in advance.
Harry
Answer
Unfortunately, from the information I have available, it appears the shares have no current value.
Newstar's subsidiaries went bankrupt in 1999. The Company was delisted and cease-traded due
to its inability to file audited financial statements and complete its required regulatory filings. Those
cease-trade orders remain in effect, and since the Company has not completed any filings since
that time in 1999, it appears there is no market for the stock and it is unlikely there ever will be.
You can consult with a broker to confirm this information.
However, when I go here:
http://cxa.marketwatch.com/TSX/en/Market/companyinformation.aspx?symb=NER&sid=21...
I see the Newstar Resources logo at the top right corner!! Would I, and should I, be able to follow up with them regarding my Newstar Resources shares?
Thanks.
Harry
AnswerNo, I can assure you they are not the same company. They both had the symbol NER, so it is pretty clear some programmer over at Marketwatch was sloppy when they recycled the old page for symbol NER when Newmac (the current Company with symbol NER in Canada) became listed. They failed to change the logo on the page from the old NER - Newstar - to the logo for the new NER - Newmac. Newmac is not Newstar - as I said in my first answer, Newstar was gone in 1999. Newmac wasn't even incorporated until 2003, and completed its IPO in 2005. The only thing they have in common is the trading symbol.
