Canadian Stocks/Java Joes

QuestionQUESTION: Steve
In 98 I purchased a number of "Imperial Plastech Inc." shares. They were listed on the Canadian Dealing Network (CDN) symbol IPLC.
Back in 2004 the shares were requested and surrendered to the principal office of Equity Transfer Services Inc. Are the shares still active to date, and if so to what value??
Cheers

ANSWER: Kevin, I am not sure why you would have surrendered the shares to the Transfer Agent, as they only did a 1 for 3 reverse split in 2004. I don't believe there was a name change until the next year when it became GPJ Ventures, then later Peak Gold. Peak merged into New Gold (1 for 10#. New Gold still trades - $3.79 on the TSX.
You need to contact the current transfer agent, Computershare #www.computershare.com), and see if they have you on the books as a shareholder.

QUESTION: Steve
Thank you for the prompt reply and directions re:Imperial Plastech Inc.
Another group of shares that I had purchased was with a new found coffee company called "Java Joe's Intl Corporation.
Does this company group exist to date??
Cheers
Kevin
AnswerKevin, from the information I have available, Java Joe's was delisted in 2002 for failure to file its financial statements and pay its fees. It was later cease-traded for the same reason. They sold their operations and became a shell, but I don't have any evidence that it was ever successful in merging with another company and relisting. You can consult a broker to see if they can perform a more detailed search and uncover any additional information.
